(WWJ) High waters are expected along the shores of Lake St. Clair today.
The National Weather Service has issued a Lakeshore Flood Advisory and a Beach Hazards Statement for Lake St. Clair and along the shoreline in Monroe until 10 p.m.
Southeast winds will increase with gusts nearing 30 miles per hour, bringing waves and high water levels all along the Lake St. Clair and Monroe shoreline.
Experts say there could be damage to docks and minor flooding.
Sterling State Park officials posted a Red Flag at the entrance to the park and near the beach to let park visitors know of the situation.
Sirens are expected to sound in both Luna Pier and Gibraltar if and when residents need to be alerted to high water levels, according to the Monroe Evening News.
"Shoreline erosion, damage to docks and minor flooding along the shore is expected," the warning says. "Dangerous swimming conditions will also develop as winds and waves build on Monday."
Caution should be used when in or near the water, experts say, and children should not enter the water unsupervised and without a certified flotation device.
