(WWJ) A little boy is hospitalized with severe burns after he was hit by fireworks over the weekend.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says the toddler was sitting on a porch at a home on Second Avenue in Pontiac Friday night while someone was lighting fireworks in the street.
Family members told investigators that one of the fireworks appeared to malfunction and shot toward the house, hitting the child.
He was taken by EMS to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where he's being treated for second and third degree burns to his neck and chest.
Sheriff's officials said the boy, who is a Pontiac resident, was listed in serious but stable condition.
No one else was hurt.
