LIVONIA (WWJ) - Two men who confronted a Livonia woman inside her garage and tried to steal her car, but ended up getting scared off, have been taken into custody and charged in the case.

Gary Loyer, age 35 of Inkster, and Nate Blalock, age 25 of Detroit, were arraigned Friday on a multi-count felony warrant charging them with armed robbery and carjacking. Both were ordered to be held without bond.

Police say Loyer and Blalock had been cruising a subdivision in the area of Devonaire Park, off Merriman north of Joy Road, on the afternoon on Jan. 26 when they confronted a woman inside her garage.

Loyer allegedly produced a handgun and they demanded the woman's money and her keys, then began loading a generator and snow blower from the garage into the woman's minivan.

The woman's keys were already inside her house and Loyer attempted to force her into the residence at gunpoint to retrieve them, according to police. Upon reaching the front door, the woman began pounding on the door while yelling for her son to call 911. This scared off the would-be robbers, who ran back to a burgundy Taurus and fled the area.

Police say the crime scene unit recovered evidence at the scene that led to the identification of Loyer and Blalock.

On Thursday, officers located Blalock in Wyandotte, driving the burgundy Taurus which had been reported stolen out of Monroe two weeks prior. He was arrested without incident. Later that afternoon officers assisted by the United States Marshal's Service Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team located Loyer in Detroit. He was also arrested without incident, during which officer's recovered an unregistered 9mm handgun from his pocket.

Loyer and Blalock are due back in court for a probable cause conference on Feb. 13. Loyer is also expected to face federal charges related to the handgun recovered from his person.
