MONROE (WWJ) - The water is safe to drink again in Monroe.

Officials announced Thursday morning that a boil water advisory has been lifted following a water main break earlier this week. The advisory affected about 2,000 people in Raisinville, Exeter and London Townships and the Village of Maybee.

Officials say corrective measures have been taken and no coliform bacteria have been detected in follow-up testing of the system's water.

The water is safe to drink, though it is suggested to flush your homes plumbing using the following method: run each cold water tap for 60 to 90 seconds, then proceed to run hot water taps for 5 minutes.

Residents with questions can contact the City of Monroe Water System at 734-384-9150.
