According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Border Patrol agents in Tucson, Arizona on Wednesday apprehended Michigan sex offender Angel Rodas-Herrera as he was trying to illegally re-enter the U.S.
Rodas-Herrera, 36, has a felony conviction for Criminal Sexual Conduct after being arrested by Grand Rapids police in 2016.
The arrest came just one day after a similar one, just southeast of Tucson.
USBP agents apprehended another previously removed another Midwest sex offender near Naco, Arizona, on Tuesday.
Tucson Sector agents patrolling southern Cochise County arrested 31-year-old Luis Gomez-Coronel, a Mexican national after he illegally entered the country through the desert.
During records checks, agents learned Gomez was convicted of Sexual Battery in Johnson County, Indiana, in March 2009 and sentenced to 949 days in prison. He was removed from the U.S. s one month later.
Gomez remains in custody, charged for reentry of a removed aggravated felon.
All people apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
