UPDATE: Dearborn Heights Shooting Kills Two Victims, Suspect

(WWJ) The Dearborn Heights Police Department and Michigan State Police are investigating an active scene of a shooting that lead to the death of three people. 

Michigan State Police say a suspect shot and killed two people on Yorkshire Street around 2:30 p.m Saturday in the area of Cherry Hill and Inkster. 

State Police tell WWJ suspect shot at responding officers at the scene. The suspect was "killed during the incident," according to State Police. 

MSP Special Investigation Section Detectives, the Forensic Lab, and an MSP unmanned aircraft are on scene. 

Dearborn Heights Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public. Officers are expected to be in the area throughout the evening. 

You are asked to avoid the area of Cherry Hill and Inkster. 

Investigators tell WWJ they will not identify the suspect or the victims until their families have been notified. No additional injuries were reported. 

More information is expected to be released as the investigation unfolds.
