Detroit Bus Driver Dies From Coronavirus Days After Posting Angry Video About Woman Coughing On His Route

Detroit bus driver Jason Hargrove

DETROIT (WWJ) - Three more Detroit city employees have died as a result of the coronavirus in recent days.  Among them was Jason Hargrove who went on social media to vent about a passenger who coughed multiple times without attempting to cover her mouth. Hargrove contracted Covid-19 Coronavirus and died days later. Two additional city workers have died due to Coronavirus in recent days including police chaplain Valerie Parks and Jeremiah Brooks who worked with the city's building, safety and engineering department.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan says Hargrove went to work for the citizens of Detroit every day.

THE VIDEO CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE.

"For you to get on a bus and stand on a bus and cough several times without covering up your mouth and we're in the middle of a pandemic. That lets me know that some folks don't care," said Hargrove describing how he felt directly after the event.

Hargrove gave a warning to his Facebook live viewers to listen to health officials recommendations in regard to Covid-19. "It ain't going to get no better before it gets worse, because nobody is taking this serious," he said. "There's folks out here dying out here because of this s--t," he added.

The woman appeared to be in her late 50s early 60s and there were eight or nine other passengers on the bus at the time according to Hargrove.

"I feel violated," said Hargrove.

Many suggested in the comments that he should throw the passenger off the bus, but Hargrove stressed how he wanted to remain professional and do his job.

Hargrove placed the blame firmly on the woman who coughed without attempting to cover her mouth. "I'm ain't blaming nobody, not the city, not the mayor, not the department, not the state of Michigan, nobody, not the government, nobody, not the president. I blame that woman who stood on this f---in' bus and coughed. It's her fault," he said.

Michigan's governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered residents to stay home with the exceptions of essential workers and trips to stores for needed supplies.

Health officials have repeatedly warned citizens to stay home as much as possible, cover their coughs, wash hands frequently and stop touching their face.
