Detroit Police Track Down 2 Women After East Side Shooting

DETROIT (WWJ) - Two women are facing criminal charges after they allegedly shot a man during a verbal altercation in Detroit. 

The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 20500 block of Alcoy Avenue, off 8 Mile Road and Schoenherr on the city's east side.


According to police, the 29-year-old victim was involved in an argument with a 38-year-old woman, during which the woman produced a handgun and fired a shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was last listed in temporary serious condition. 

The suspect fled the scene in an older-model Ford Taurus with a 25-year-old woman. Officers later located both women in the 17200 block of Burgess Street, off McNichols and Lahser Road on the west side, where they were arrested without incident. Two weapons were also recovered.

The women were transported to the Detroit Detention Center, pending charges.
