DETROIT (WWJ) -- A security guard at a grocery store on Detroit's west side has been arraigned for allegedly shooting a couple in the parking lot of the store following an argument.

Authorities say 59-year-old Cedric Lynn Windom was working Sunday evening as a security guard at the U.S. Quality Supermarket in the 15600 block of Joy Road, near the intersection of Greenfield Road. Police were called to the scene around 6 p.m. Sunday on the report of a shooting and upon arrival found a 44-year-old woman and 46-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics took both victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office alleges that Windom and the woman had been in a verbal altercation inside the store, before she left the store with her groceries. Prosecutors say the woman spoke with her boyfriend on the phone and he arrived at the scene.

According to prosecutors, following the exchange of words inside the store, the guard followed both victims outside the store and pointed a gun at the man and fired at him. He then fired at and struck the female victim. The conditions of the victims were not disclosed.

Windom was arrested at the scene on Sunday and was arraigned Tuesday in 36th District Court. Windom is facing two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and four counts of felony firearm.

Windom received a $500,000 cash/surety bond and is set to appear in court for a probably cause conference on Oct. 17 and a preliminary exam on Oct. 24.
