MONROE (WWJ) - A multi-vehicle crash along I-75 in Monroe County caused major headaches for commuters Wednesday morning.

A crash that happened around 5:20 a.m. on northbound I-75 near Dunbar Road had the freeway closed to traffic until just before 10 a.m.

Traffic Tipster Linda was among those caught in the backup.

"There were at least three semis involved. One is jackknifed across the road and the other two are off to the side. There are a couple other smaller trucks involved, as well as at least two or three cars. There's lot of emergency vehicles on scene. That's going to be tied up for a long time," she said.

Other circumstances leading to the crash, including if snow-covered or slippery road conditions were a factor, weren't immediately clear.

Northbound I-75 was closed at La Plaisance Road, leading to a multi-mile backup while police were clearing the scene, but has since reopened to traffic.
