(WWJ) An inmate is believed to be on the loose in the Detroit area after being wrongly released by Ohio authorities.

"Through an interstate contact agreement that we have, county sheriffs are allowed to take our prisoners if they are facing charges, and take them to their county to face those charges. and then they're supposed to bring them back," Gautz explained. "That was supposed to have taken place here. Unfortunately, something got crossed in the system, and he was actually allowed to be released on bond."
Brazil was sentenced to 15-40 years in prison in Wayne County in 2010 for unarmed robbery, carjacking, felony firearms, possession of weapons by a felon, and delivery or manufacture of a controlled substance — and has at least five more years to serve.
After his release, authorities say Brazil was picked up by family members and it is believed they brought him back to metro Detroit.

When the MDOC was notified by the sheriff’s office of the mistake on Thursday, officers called his family and made clear Brazil must turn himself in. As of Friday, he remained at large.
Brazil is described 5’10'' tall and around 205 pounds.
