MT. CLEMENTS (WWJ) - A man is facing charges after he was spotted masturbating in a Macomb County park in broad daylight.
On Aug. 1, authorities say an off-duty officer who was jogging on a trail in Dodge Park in Mount Clemens reported she saw a very tall man exposing himself while riding a mountain bike.
The suspect, since identified as 29-year-old William Brown, "was in full view of the public while he was fondling his genitals," according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
About half-an-hour later, another witness reported that she saw the man, still exposing himself. When she ran in a different direction to try to avoid the suspect, she then saw him sitting on a park bench masturbating in the open.
Brown was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated indecent exposure, which each carry a penalty of up to two years in prison.
"This type of vulgar behavior will certainly not be tolerated," said Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith, in a statement, adding: "Dodge Park is a beautiful place for families to go to; to enjoy the outdoors and recreation with their children. Having to worry about something like this is unconscionable."
Brown was arraigned Friday and placed on $10,000 cash or surety bond.
Michigan Department of Corrections records show Brown has previous convictions for indecent exposure incident in Macomb County in 2015.
He is scheduled to appear in 41-A District Court in Sterling Heights for a probable cause conference on Sept. 6.
