MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a homeless man in Madison Heights.
The crash happened just before 8 p.m. Tuesday along Dequindre Road near Jenifer Avenue, just south of 12 Mile Road. After the collision, the suspect vehicle fled the scene.
The 54-year-old victim was found lying in the southbound lane of Dequindre. Multiple citizens stopped to help and block the roadway until first responders arrived on scene.
Police say the victim is suspected of being homeless and was observed asking for money prior to the incident.
As an investigation continues, police are urging the driver to turn themselves in.
