DETROIT (WWJ) - A man who is wanted on charges in Kentucky has been arrested in Detroit following a police chase.
The incident unfolded just after 1 a.m. Friday on 8 Mile Road and the southbound I-75 service drive when Michigan State Police troopers attempted to stop a Town and Country minivan that had a stolen license plate.
The driver refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated, with the troopers losing the van near 7 Mile Road and Dequindre.
A second MSP unit saw the van near 6 Mile Road and Dequindre and reinitiated the pursuit. Troopers performed a PIT maneuver and were able to disable the van on Princeton near McNichols in Detroit.
The driver started to flee but was arrested without incident after a brief foot pursuit behind a house.
Two parked cars were struck by the suspect at the end of the pursuit. Troopers also determined the van itself was stolen.
No injuries were reported.
According to police, the man has a felony warrant out of Kentucky that has an extradition order. He is being lodged at the Oakland County Jail at this time.
