Oakland County Sheriff's Office Searching For Fugitive Wanted For Murder

(WWJ) The Oakland County Sheriff's Office remains on the hunt for a fugitive on the run after a murder in Pontiac.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is has renewed its call for tips, offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of Davonte Christopher Burkett.


The surviving victim, who suffered a grazing wound from a bullet to his back, told deputies he accelerated away as the gunfire continued. He realized his passenger,  23-year-old Marquis Myles of Pontiac, had been severely injured, and drove to the hospital where Myles died of multiple gunshot wounds. 

Jones was arrested and arraigned in 50th District Court April 2 on charges of open murder, assault with intent to murder and firearms charges. He remains held without bond. 

A murder warrant was also issued for Burkett, who remained at large as of Friday, April 10.

Burkett (seen both above and at left) is described as 28 years old, 6'2" tall and weighing around 205 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. 

He and Jones and both residents of Pontiac.
