MONROE (WWJ) - An investigation is underway after a Wayne County man was found dead in Monroe.
At around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Monroe police were called to the 700 block of Kentucky Ave. on a report of an unresponsive person who was bleeding from an apparent head injury.
Responding officers found the man was dead, and detectives were called to the scene to investigate.
Police said the victim has been positively identified as a 44-year-old man from Wayne County, although his city of residence has not been released. The man's name is also name is being withheld until his family can be notified, police said.
While police are calling the man's death "suspicious," there is no information yet about any possible suspects or a motive for the killing.
The body was transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiners Office for autopsy.
