DETROIT (WWJ) - This stretch of unseasonably dry weather is about to come to an end.
Forecasters say a low pressure system will produce an extended period of rain that is expected to move across the metro Detroit region on Saturday night and will persist through Monday. There's also a chance of thunderstorms on Sunday, with wind gusts as high as 21 miles per hour.
Rainfall totals ranging from 1 to 1.5 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts up to 2 inches possible.
The silver lining is that temperatures are still above normal for this time of year. Highs will tap out around 46 degrees on Saturday, 57 on Sunday and 47 on Monday -- quite a bit warmer than the normal average of 33 degrees.
Here's a look at the forecast from the WWJ Weather Team:
Saturday -- Mostly sunny, with rain moving in late. High near 46. Low 38.
Sunday -- Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 57. Low 41.
