(WWJ) Drivers were urged to steer clear the scene of a serious, multi-vehicle crash along I-75 in Taylor.

Michigan State Police said the initial crash — on the northbound freeway near Eureka Rd., Friday afternoon —  involved a car and a semi truck.

Another car that came upon the accident could not stop in time and went underneath the semi, police said. That driver was followed by another who didn't stop in time and struck the vehicles involved in the previous two crashes.

MSP said one person was trapped in a car, but was alert when emergency responders arrived.

The extent of any injures is unknown at this time.

The freeway was partially closed and then completely shut down at Eureka for a time, but all lanes have since reopened to traffic.

It's not clear at this time what led up to the initial crash, or who was at fault.

Also in the same area, police said an MSP K-9 team was searching Friday afternoon for a "domestic suspect" believed to be armed with a knife. Police said that person was connected to a separate incident near I-75 and Allen Rd., and that the public should expect to see police activity in the area. Further details about that situation are not known at this time.
