(WWJ) A seven-year-old girl is recovering from a stabbing on Detroit’s west side.

Detroit Police say the child’s grandmother was in the kitchen when she heard her granddaughter scream in another room around 9 pm Saturday in the area of Pallister and The Lodge Service Drive.

A “family friend”, 18, was in the room with the little girl, according to police.

Investigators tell WWJ he ran away from the home as soon as the grandmother found the injured child.

The suspect remains on the run. The child is hospitalized in stable condition.
