Severe Weather Hits Southeast Michigan, Some Lose Power

Lightning

WWJ -- Scattered thunderstorms and high winds moved into southeast Michigan Tuesday evening and several thousand people had their power knocked out.

As of 8 p.m., at least 2,000 DTE Energy customers were in the dark across the utility's service area.

The largest affected area was in Warren, stretching from 10 Mile to 12 Mile roads, between Schoennherr and Hayes Roads.

Several other pockets of outages were reported across the area.

Check the DTE outage map.

As a cold front moves into the area, the National Weather Service says a storm system is bringing brief heavy downpours on roadways, with thunder and lightning. Winds were expected to be in excess of 40 mph.

A Lakeshore Flood Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. Wednesdays for several counties, including Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Monroe, Livingston, and St. Clair.
