DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are asking for tips to identify a person of interest in a Halloween homicide in Detroit.

The night of Thursday, Oct. 31, police said an unknown man shot another man in the back of the head at a Citgo gas station on Grand River Ave., on the city's west side.

Police said the victim, who died at the scene, was 31-years-old. His name has not been released.

At the time of the homicide, the suspect was wearing a clown mask with a gray and black Northface hooded sweater, a blue t-shirt, gray pants and black shoes with and white symbol, according to police.

According to police, the photos released by Crime Stoppers were not taken on the day of the shooting, but show a person of interest who frequents the gas station, and matches the description of the shooter -- minus the mask.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6-feet tall, with an average build, black hair and dark complexion.

Anyone who recognizes the man or who has any information about this crime should call the Detroit Police Department's Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (1-800-773-2587).

Tips may also be submitted online at this link. As always, tipsters may stay 100 percent anonymous, will not be asked their names, to speak to police or to testify in court.

A cash reward of up to $2,500 is available for the tip that leads to an arrest in this case.
