Snow Expected In Metro Detroit Sunday Night

WWJ -- Warm, springlike weather is on its way to metro Detroit. But it looks like we'll get one last brief blast of winter before it truly feels like spring.

Temperatures are expected to hover in the high 30s and low 40s most of the day Sunday, before dropping to the low 30s late in the evening, with snow beginning around 11 p.m.

The National Weather Service says most areas in southeast Michigan will see 1-2 inches of snow, while some areas to the south will likely see less than an inch.

AccuWeather meteorologist John Feerick says Sunday night's snow will be more of a nuisance than a heavy problem, especially on the roadways. Many paved areas won't see much accumulation, but could still become slick.

Feerick says the snow is expected to melt by Monday afternoon, when the area is expected to see rain showers.

The flash back to winter will eventually give way to more springlike weather, as a gradual warming trend is expected to arrive by midweek. Monday's high is expected to be 48, before temperatures reach into the low 50s Tuesday and warmer later in the week.
