(WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating a freeway shooting that left a young man dead Monday evening.
According to MSP, the victim — identified as a 21-year-old man from Romulus — was found in his car along westbound I-96 near Schaefer at around 6:30 p.m.
He had been shot one time, investigator say, and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Witnesses told troopers that two other men were seen running away from the car and toward the I-96 service drive.
K-9 units were brought out to search for the suspects, but were unable to track them down, police said.
An investigation by the MSP Second District Special Investigation Section is ongoing.
Anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area of the shooting, or who knows anything that could help police with this case is asked to call the Metro South Post at 734-287-5000.
