DETROIT (WWJ) - A driver was critically injured in a crash along I-375 overnight that police say was fueled by alcohol.
Police say the man was driving southbound on I-375 in Detroit around 12:15 a.m. Friday when he lost control on the curve to westbound Jefferson Avenue and he crashed into the concrete median barrier near Larned Street.
The man, who was using a seat belt, was unresponsive when EMS and Michigan State Police troopers arrived at scene. He was transported to the hospital and last reported in critical condition.
Alcohol use is suspected, according to police.
Southbound I-375 was closed while police were investigating the scene, but has since reopened to traffic.
The crash remains under investigation.
