DETROIT (WWJ) - A 17 year-old girl is dead after police say she was fatally assaulted in a home near Rosedale Park in Detroit. WDIV and freep.com are reporting it as a fatal stabbing.
The girl's body was discovered shortly before 1:30 p.m. Thursday inside a home on Grandville Avenue, near Fenkell Avenue and Outer Drive on the city's west side.
The circumstances of the fatal attack are not yet clear, though Cmdr. Darrell Patterson told WDIV it was an incident of domestic violence.
"This is generally a very nice area and we'd like to keep it that way," Cmdr. Darrell Patterson said to WDIV. "It was a serious domestic violence incident. Unfortunately it resulted in a homicide."
A man described as approximately 18-years-old and the victim's boyfriend was taken into police custody.
An investigation is ongoing.
