(WWJ) Authorities are looking for two loose dogs who "viciously attacked" a Roseville woman and her pet.
According to Macomb County Animal Control and police, three people were injured, and a 10-month-old beagle named "Bella" was killed in the incident Monday.
Officials said the 45-year-old woman was walking her "beloved pet on Frazho Road near Kathy Street, at around 6 p.m., when two unidentified dogs ran up to them.
The woman's Beagle was killed, and she was injured with several puncture wounds and lacerations to her arms and legs.
A 69-year-old Roseville man stepped in when he saw what was happening, fighting with the dog and getting bitten himself, while saving the woman from being more seriously hurt.
A 32-year-old Roseville woman also interceded and was bitten several times, police said.
"The citizens actions prevented this tragic incident from being a bigger tragedy," the Roseville Police Department said, in a release.
The woman whose beagle was killed was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but she is expected to be OK.
All three people who were injured were undergoing post-exposure Rabies treatment on Tuesday, officials said.
The witnesses described one of the aggressor dogs as a large stocky black "pit bull type" dog, with a white chest. The other was described as a smaller red/brown "pit bull type" dog.
As the investigation continues, authorities are hoping someone in the public has security camera images or video that could help them tto identify the dogs involved.
Macomb County Animal Control says the focus "is solely on identifying where the dogs reside so we can help prevent this from happening in the future, not to create a debate regarding breed."
