(WWJ) A young woman has been charged in the death of her teenage brother, who was shot while she played around with a gun.
Wayne Couny Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Chinasia Eliza-Yvonna Williams, 22, with two counts: involuntary manslaughter, and manslaughter - death by a weapon aimed with intent but without malice.
Investigators said 14-year-old Chance Williams was killed Tuesday, at a home in the 12800 block of Mettetal, near I-96 and Greenfield in Detroit.
Investigators said Chinasia Williams was handling a handgun while in a room with her little brother and some friends.
It's alleged that she removed the magazine from the weapon, pointed it at her brother and pulled the trigger — apparently without realizing that there was a bullet left in the chamber.
A neighbor was called to the scene and took the teen boy to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound.
Chinasia Williams was arraigned Friday morning in 36th District Court and given a $75,000 personal bond.
She will be back in court for a probable cause conference on July 2, followed by a preliminary examination on July 9, both before Judge Roberta Archer.
