ROMULUS (WWJ) - Travelers are urged to check their flights status after computer issues caused problems for Delta, Southwest, United and other airlines early Monday.
At 7:30 a.m., it appeared there were at least five Delta flights delayed at Detroit Metro Airport, and at least two Southwest flights were delayed. In addition, at least 21 inbound Delta Air Lines flights to Metro Airport were delayed.
Along with Detroit, the Associated Press reported delays at other airports including in Chicago, New York City, Boston, Atlanta and Miami.
You're killing me, @Delta I'm having flashbacks to 8/8/16 when I was stuck in the airport for 27 hours before having to drive 9 hours home. If only today was an April Fool's joke. 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ pic.twitter.com/UZZWpQbL5F

Delta, which earlier tweeted that the airline was experiencing a system-wide outage, since put out an update saying that while no cancellations are expected, the airline was still working to resolve some resulting delays. "Again, I apologize for all the inconveniences," Delta said, in a tweet.
Similarly, Southwest said there was a technical issue delaying its flights, adding in a tweeted reply to a concerned passenger: "We're working hard to get back to full functionality, and appreciate you hanging in there with us."
Airline Consultant Michael Boyd told CBS News the issue had to do with computer programs that control weight and balance, "What the airplace has to be configured for on takeoff."
By around 8:30 a.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said the overall issue had been resolved.
Anyone flying today is urged to check with individual airlines for any changes.
