PONTIAC (WWJ) - Oakland County authorities say a toddler is expected to be OK after he fell from a second floor window over the weekend.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the 2-year-old boy was in the bedroom of his home in the 500 block of Woodlake Dr. in Pontiac, Sunday afternoon, when he climbed onto a window ledge and tumbled out.

Inside the residence, deputies found that the window's ledge was less than two feet off the floor. The window was open, according to investigators, and a screen -- which was apparently was pushed out -- was found damaged on the ground below.

The boy was treated by EMS at the scene and then taken to Beaumont hospital to be checked out.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard said, thankfully, the boy's fall was broken by some bushes and he didn't suffer any serious injuries.

It's unclear who was supposed to be watching the child when it happened.

"Obviously, any of us that have kids, then can get into stuff quickly," Bouchard said. "And part of the job of a parent is to keep an eye on 'em, and not leave them in a situation where they can get hurt; accidentally or otherwise."

Sheriff's investigators sent a report to Child Protective Services for review.
