The Wayne County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jonathan Mazgai, of Taylor. An official cause of death has not yet been determined.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the former Grand Trunk Warehouse & Cold Storage, at East Ferry and St Aubin streets on the city's east side. Police say the group was on the building's ninth floor when Mazgai was running to hide and possibly fell through the elevator shaft.
