TROY (WWJ) - A Sterling Heights man was arrested after police say he drove drunk while half-naked in Troy.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Adam Corie Lafave, was found in his car a little after 6 a.m. last Friday, on northbound Rochester Road.
Troy police said they were called to the scene about a disabled vehicle blocking the right lane, south of Player Dr., to find a blue 2009 Chrysler 200 which was missing the passenger side tires, had a broken front tie rod, and was leaking oil.
Officers believed that the car previously had struck the curb at a high rate of speed, causing the damage.
Lafave was sitting in the front seat naked from the waist down and smelling of alcohol, according to police.
Police said Lafave admitted that he'd been drinking alcohol about two-and-a-half hours earlier. He also admitted he'd been driving, police said, having left a friend's house in Clinton Township, heading home to Sterling Heights.
Lafave was asked to perform some field sobriety tests, which he did with a towel wrapped around his waist, but he performed poorly. Police said he then agreed to take a breathalyzer test and blew a 0.165 percent BAC (blood alcohol content), which is well above Michigan's legal limit for driving.
Lafave was taken into custody and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol - first offense.
No injuries were reported.
