BLOOMFIELD TWP., Mich. (WWJ) -- Three people are dead and another is in critical condition after a single car crash in Bloomfield Township on Monday afternoon.

Police say around 3:40 p.m. Bloomfield Township police and fire units responded to the crash along Heathfield Road, south of Berkshire Road. Preliminary reports indicated a 2017 Chevrolet, being driven by a 72-year-old Southfield woman, was heading north on Heathfield, when it left the road and struck a tree.

The driver, as well as a 69-year-old Oak Park man and a 29-year-old woman from Southfield, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

A 71-year-old Royal Oak woman was taken to Beaumont Royal Oak, where she was listed in critical condition.

Authorities were still investigating to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the road. Police said it was unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash. Members of the Southwest Oakland County Crash Investigations Team (SOCCIT) assisted with the on-scene investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248-433-7755.
