DETROIT (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after a three-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet on Detroit's east side Tuesday night.
Detroit police confirmed to WWJ that the young girl was hit in the body by a ricocheted bullet in the 13100 block of Flanders Street, north of E. Outer Drive and and east of Gratiot Avenue.
Medics transported her to a local hospital. Police did not provide an update to her condition.
It is unclear what led to the shooting or whether there are any suspects. Police stressed that the information they gave is preliminary.
WDIV in Detroit reports there were six children inside their grandmother's house at the time of the shooting and it did not appear the shots came from outside.
