DETROIT (WWJ) - A Warren man is facing multiple charges over a road rage incident on I-75 in which he allegedly pointed a gun at a car with women and children inside.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 on southbound I-75 near 8 Mile Road in Detroit.
According to Michigan State Police, 40-year-old Jeffrey Ali Zaidi was driving aggressively and swerving at a vehicle that was occupied by two women and two children. Zaidi also allegedly produced a handgun and pointed it at the victims.
The front seat passenger was able to obtain a license plate number before the vehicle fled the scene. After an investigation, troopers identified Zaidi as the suspect and he was taken into custody. Troopers also recovered numerous firearms during a search warrant.
Zaidi, a concealed pistol license holder, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of brandishing a firearm in public and two counts each of felonious assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearm. Bond was set at $35,000. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail.
