LIVONIA (WWJ) - Police say a pedestrian who ignored a crossing signal was hit by a vehicle and killed in Livonia.
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday along 7 Mile at Wayne Road.
According to police, a 65-year old Ypsilanti man was attempting to cross the roadway on a red traffic signal when he was struck by a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Livonia resident.
The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The driver was not injured.
Police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.
