(WWJ) Wait, what? Dozens of drivers had to do a double take on I-75 Saturday night when a colorful billboard started playing a hard-core pornographic video.

It happened Saturday night near the M-59 exit, and police are still trying to figure out how.

See the scene that played out over the freeway HERE, but note that it is sexually graphic. The professionally produced film features a man and two women getting frisky.

Here's a clean snippet.

Unknown is how many people witnessed the billboard on metro Detroit's busiest freeway, but lots of people called 911 demanding action.

The Auburn Hills Police Department says they responded immediately; and that officers witnessed the video being displayed at that time.

The billboard is located on the east side of I-75, south of M-59, which displays a digital image facing both north and south.

"We were able to contact an emergency contact for the private business, which operates the sign, and they were able to shut down the sign," police said. "We believe that the video may have been playing for at least 15 to 20 minutes before it was turned off."

While some initial reports said Outfront Media owns the signs, the actual owner/operator of the sign is Triple Communications under parent company Triple Investment Group, which owners of the Pontiac Silverdome property.

A local doctor told WXYZ the freeway was a sea of brake lights, "You could kind of see people started to brake a lot behind me, cause I think they were doing the same thing, like a double take."

Hosts on 97.1 The Ticket played it for laughs, wondering how many drivers "got off" at that exit. Host Mike Stone said he would have turned around to make another pass through the area.

A twitter user pointed out, ironically, that particular billboard hardly ever works, and usually just displays a Windows desktop icon.

Police note that disseminating pornographic material in public violates an Auburn Hills local ordinance, with a possible penalty of 90 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.

As the investigation continues, police are asking anyone who witnessed this video being displayed, or who has any other related information, to call 248-364-9460.
