BERKLEY (WWJ) - New speed signs have gone up in Berkley as part of an effort slow down traffic on 12 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway.
The radar-signs are on poles at Coolidge and Oxford Road, south and east near 11 Mile Road; and at 12 Mile and Royal Avenue, north and west near Greenfield Road.
The display signs will give driver-speed and measure traffic count. The signs utilize cameras, but a Public Safety Lieutenant told The Oakland Press they will not be used for issuing speeding tickets.
Coolidge and 12 Mile both have 30 MPH speed limits in Berkley. City council members say they hope the signs will make both roads safer for motorists, shoppers and residents.
