DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Residents in a Dearborn Heights neighborhood were on edge Friday morning after police officers surrounded a home.
The situation unfolded around 5 a.m. on Eton Avenue, off Beech Daly Road just south of Annapolis Street. Police responded to the home after an 11-year-old boy called 911 and said he thought someone might have been shot because he saw blood on the floor through a basement window.
Investigators tell WWJ they made several attempts to contact people inside the home but when they failed to do so, additional officers were called in and a perimeter was established.
Police say five people eventually exited the house safely, including two children. A man was taken into custody.
Jeff Goudy, who lives across the street, said the neighborhood is usually peaceful and quiet.
"I just looked out the window and there was all these cop cars out there with their lights on the house and they were trying to get people to come out. And it took quite a while and then finally, one-by-one people were coming out and they put them in cars," Goudy told WWJ's Mike Campbell.
No one was shot but police are investigating the possibility that an assault took place.
An investigation is ongoing.
