EAST LANSING (WWJ/AP) - Here's a chance to put a piece of Spartan Stadium in your own backyard.
Michigan State University is replacing the turf after the spring football game on April 13, so sections of the hybrid Kentucky bluegrass are being sold for $10.
The sections will be approximately 18 inches by 72 inches, and can be purchased on MSU's surplus store website. Customers can place deposits on up to six sections of turf, per person.
The grass should be available for pickup on April 15 or soon after that date, and should be transplanted within five days of removal from the stadium. MSU plans to contact buyers by email.
The exact number of turf sections isn't known, but the school says up to 2,500 pieces will be available.
By placing a deposit, you are not guaranteed any sections. The turf will be disbursed to customers based on the date and time of their deposit -- first in, first distributed -- so act fast if you want a section.
