(WWJ) A statewide manhunt is over after the suspect in a quadruple murder in Sumpter Township over the weekend turned himself in.
Raymond Bailey, 37, of Wyandotte, surrendered to the Bay County Sheriff's Office Sunday night.
Sumpter Township Police say Bailey shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, another woman and 2 men -- all in their 30s -- at a home on Martinsville, near Wear Road, on Saturday. Investigators tell WWJ that Bailey made multiple phone calls and sent text messages confessing to the murders.
All victims were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds.
Police thought Bailey may be headed to the Upper Peninsula, but his vehicle was found near Bay City. A statewide bulletin had been posted in hopes of finding him.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Sumpter Township Police Department detective bureau at 734-461-4833, option 4.
A Crime Scene Response Team from the Michigan State Police Forensic Division was requested and arrived shortly after that to assist.
Amid the investigation, the Detroit News discovered Bailey had recent felony assault and domestic violence charges, which were dismissed in November and January. Bond was set at $1,000 and had been posted Nov. 8. When the charges were dismissed, Bailey had been ordered to not have any direct or indirect contact with Tanner. The order expired on May 1.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money to bury the four victims, identified by family members as sisters Laura and Sarah Tanner, and brothers Neil and Forrest Sampson.
As of Monday morning, the fundraiser had already brought in nearly $17,000 toward a $40,000 goal.
A message on the page reads: "Fiercely loyal to each other and their families, these siblings/cousins/mothers and fathers/daughters and sons put family first, and now our family desperately needs your help to quickly raise funeral expenses. We honestly haven't yet calculated the cost of these funerals, but hope this amount will make a dent. Your much-needed donations will help us lay to rest our four family members. Remaining donations will go into a trust for Neil's son."
