Tyson Recalls 11.8 Million Pounds Of Chicken Strips That May Contain Metal Pieces

(WWJ) - It's time to check your freezer!

Arkansas-based Tyson Foods is expanding a recall of its chicken strips that might be contaminated with pieces of metal.

The recall now includes an additional 11,760,424 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strips that were shipped nationwide.

Products in the recall include:

• Tyson fully cooked crispy chicken strips• Tyson fully cooked Buffalo-style chicken strips• Tyson fully cooked honey BBQ flavored chicken strips • Best Choice Buffalo-style chicken strips • Great Value fully cooked chicken strips • Food Lion crispy chicken strips• Food Lion Buffalo-style chicken strips • Meijer crispy chicken strips• Meijer honey BBQ flavored chicken strips • Meijer Buffalo-style chicken strips• Giant Premium crispy chicken strips• Giant Eagle cripsy chicken strips

The company discovered the problem after receiving two consumer complaints about extraneous material in the chicken strips. Authorities are now aware of six complaints during this time frame involving similar pieces of metal with three alleging oral injury.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

The original recall, issued March 21, included 69,093 pounds of chicken strips.
