DETROIT (WWJ) - One person is in police custody after a chase and crash led to a reported manhunt on Detroit's east side Thursday morning.
WWJ's Mike Campbell reported live from the scene at 7 a.m. on Bradford and Findley Ave. on the east side of Detroit where an Eastpointe police cruiser and a white Jeep were smashed up against a garage at the intersection.
"The suspect's doors were flung open," Campbell said, adding that Eastpointe police at the scene would not confirm if the suspect fled after the crash. "They do have a suspect in custody, so if there was a manhunt, it's over at this point."
The crash occurred two or three miles south of Eastpointe in the City of Detroit.
It is unsure what prompted the police response and what the suspect was arrested for. Campbell said police refused to comment on the case.
The scene has since be cleared, Campbell said, but an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
