PONTIAC (WWJ) — An investigation is underway after a shooting at a party in Pontiac early Wednesday morning left a man dead and two others injured.
Oakland County Sheriff's deputies were called to the North Hill Farms Apartment Complex just before 12:30 a.m. after getting reports of shots fired in the area.
When they showed up, they found three men in their 20s had been shot. Two of the victims had been shot in the legs, while a 29-year-old Pontiac was shot once in the head.
He was unresponsive when police showed up and he was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving measures by EMS and deputies, according to the sheriff's office.
The other men have since been released from the hospital.
Witnesses told investigators there had been a party in the parking lot of the apartment complex earlier in the night. At some point, an argument broke out, eventually leading to the shooting.
The sheriff's office is asking for tips to help them identify the suspect, but no description of the suspect or any other information regarding the shooting was released.
"We are looking for assistance in locating the individual(s) that committed this cowardly and despicable violent act by shooting into a crowd. The only way we can stop senseless violence is when people speak up. You can be anonymous, and a reward is possible" Sheriff Mike Bouchard said.
Officials are asking anyone who knows something about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest. All Crime Stoppers tipsters will remain anonymous.
