(WWJ) One person has been killed in a shooting at a fast food restaurant on Detroit's west side.

According to Detroit Police, it happened at around 1:30 p.m. at Captain Jay's Fish and Chicken in the 16900 block of Meyers Rd., near W. McNichols and the Lodge Freeway.


Police said the suspect fled the scene in a white Nissan, but there is no further description of the shooter at this time.

Police have not yet released a name or other details about the victim, and it's still unclear what led up to the shooting as the investigation gets underway.

Police said officers were on scene within just minutes after the shooting was reported. Later in the afternoon investigators were working on getting surveillance video from the location.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Detroit PD or 911.
