
CASCO TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A crash in St. Clair County left a 17-year-old girl seriously injured, sheriffs' officials said.
The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said Central Dispatch received reports of a crash at the intersection of Gratiot and Division in Casco Township on Saturday, April 5, around 10:30 p.m.
According to sheriffs' officials, their investigation revealed the Richmond teen was driving her 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Division Road when she failed to yield to a southbound 2009 Ford F150, driven by a 32-year-old Lenox woman. The Ford pickup struck the Jeep's driver's side door.
The teen was rushed to McLaren Macomb hospital with "serious life-threatening injuries"; sheriffs' officials said.
The driver of the Ford F150, as well as a 39-year-old man and 2-year-old girl riding in the ca, were not hurt and signed off with paramedics at the scene; according to investigators.
Michigan State Police, Richmond/Lenox EMS, and the Richmond Fire Department also assisted.
The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Team is investigating. Alcohol, drugs and excessive speed are not believed to be factors.
