FRENCHTOWN TWP. (WWJ) -- A young Monroe County man is jailed on felony charges after he allegedly pulled a gun on another driver during what authorities say was a "road rage" dispute.
The 19-year-old suspect, from Newport, was arrested by Monroe County Sheriff's deputies Tuesday night, following the incident along I-75 in Frenchtown Township.
Just after 9 p.m., the victim called 9-1-1 to report he was driving northbound on the freeway, near Nadeau Road, when the driver of a white GMC pickup truck pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him several times, as they were driving side by side.
The victim was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect vehicle, and of the gun, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies responded, and the suspect was found and pulled over on N. Telegraph Rd. near I-275.
After the driver was taken into custody, the officials said deputies searched his truck and found two unregistered handguns. The suspect does not have a CPL, according to the sheriff's office.
The suspect's name is being withheld, as he awaits an arraignment on charges of Felonious Assault and Carrying a Concealed Firearm.
Officials did not provided any details about led up to the suspect allegedly pulling the gun. The investigation is ongoing.
