(WWJ) A 19-year-old Detroit man faces decades in prison if he's convicted as charged for a crash that killed a 9-year-old girl.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Gregory Louis Austin was driving recklessly and speeding on the Southfield Freeway Service Drive near Tireman Ave., last Friday night, when ran traffic light and crashed into another car.

A 9-year-old girl and a 53-year-old woman who were in that car were taken by EMS to a hospital, where the child was pronounced dead.

Austin has been charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death, Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment, Driving While License Suspended, Revoked, or Denied – Causing Death, and Driving While License Suspended, Revoked, or Denied – Causing Serious Impairment.

He was arraigned via video in 36th District Court Tuesday morning and received a $50,000 cash/surety bond.

The Detroit Police Department said that because he was arraigned while in the hospital, there is no mugshot for Austin.

Authorities did not release any information about Austin's injuries, and there's no update on the injured woman's condition.

A bond re-determination hearing in the case is scheduled for Feb. 26, to be followed by a Probable Cause Conference set for March 4.
