DETROIT (WWJ) -- A young Eastpointe man has been charged with shooting and killing another young man, last week in Detroit.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Friday announced the case against 19-year-old Tasean Johnson, who is charged with murder and other felony crimes in connection with the death of 18-year-old William Shelton of Detroit.
According to investigators, Johnson shot Shelton multiple times from a moving vehicle and then drove away. It happened at around 12:15 p.m. on Friday, May 17, in the area of Roxbury and Whittier on the city's east side.
Shelton was pronounced dead at the hospital, and police arrested Johnson three days later.
He was arraigned in 36th District Court on Friday on the following counts: Second-Degree Murder, Discharge from a Moving Vehicle Causing Death, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Lying to a Peace Officer, and two counts of Felony Firearm.
Johnson was given $750,000 cash/surety bond with the conditions that he wear a GPS tether and remain under house arrest if he is released.
A bond redetermination hearing was scheduled for May 28, to be followed by a probable cause conference on May 30.
Prosecutors did not releases any information about a possible motive in this case.
