PONTIAC (WWJ) -- There's an investigation underway in Oakland County into the death of 19-year-old man who was found fatally shot in a Pontiac neighborhood.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office detectives, the body of Warren resident Cornelius Traves Murphy Jr. was discovered at around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.
A caller reported there was a man lying in the field next to their home, in the 100 block of N. Jessie, south of E. Huron St. near Michigan Ave.
The caller reported the man was not breathing, officials said.
The Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the scene and found the man, later identified as Murphy Jr., had a gunshot wound to his chest.
The sheriff's office said the shooting is believed to have happened Tuesday, at around 8:30 p.m.
It's unclear what may have led to the gunfire. There have been no arrests in the case, as no further information has been released.
