DETROIT (WWJ) -- Two men have been arrested after "fight night" broke out on the Southfield Freeway following a traffic crash.

Michigan State Police troopers were called to the southbound lanes of M-39 near Plymouth Road -- just south of I-96 -- around 11 p.m. Wednesday night to investigate a traffic crash.

While troopers were investigating, they heard the two drivers begin arguing about the incident. That soon turned into a fight, right on the side of the freeway.

Police attempted to separate the two men and they became more aggressive towards each other and the troopers, ignoring commands to break it up.

Authorities say one of the suspects kept lunging at the other and was eventually taken to the ground by a trooper, where he continued to struggle.

The tussle came to an end after troopers told the man he would be tased if he didn't comply, and the suspect finally gave up and was handcuffed.

The second suspect was also taken to the ground and handcuffed after refusing commands, police said.

MSP did not provide any details about the traffic crash or what escalated the situation.

Both suspects were arrested and processed and could be facing charges, pending prosecutor review.

Details on the suspects, including age and hometowns, were not disclosed.
